Low clear water got you down? Tough fishing and even tougher bites etc? Try downsizing your line or running a flourocarbon leader. Fish often get line shy but, what most dont realitze is that heavier line imparts a less realistic look to your bait or lure. On the Cowlitz I will often run 6 pound test for Steelhead with size 6 hooks. The Cowlitz is a great river for Side-drifting but, does have alot of pressure due to its high volume of fish. Vision hooks and Tackle based out of Olympia does a great job of making the sharpest hooks on the market. I highly reccomend them.

Give me a call if you wanna burn it up. I mean it really! You are gonna need advil the next mornin,m there is so many fish. Been running Northwest jigs in 3/8 size in standard pink…I have also been running Mad river MFg Pink 4 inch Steelhead worms on a Jig head with great success!

Fishing has been up and down this past couple of days since my past update. Some days are smoking hott and some days we gotta work a little to find the fish. Not only are the Kings nice this year we have been getting some great Steelhead as well. This past couple of days have yielded about 10 Steelhead while fishing for Kings…makes for a nice battle and some great memories while most have spawned some have not. We have been mostly backtrolling this past few days using a variety of Pautzke Cured eggs and Sand shrimp. Besdies eggs I have been running Mag-lips plugs and Kwikfish. Make sure when fishing plugs to match the size of the plug to the water being fished for best results. Would like to give a big thanks to everyone who has fished with me these past few days had a great time fishing with you all and lookforward to doing it again in the fall for some great Silver and pink Salmon action!
